T2 Weighted Sagittal MRI of a Spinal Cord Astrocytoma

T2 Weighted Sagittal MRI of a Spinal Cord Astrocytoma

Shown are two solid tumor masses, one at the cervical-medullary junction and the other at C2. There is a tumor cyst between the two masses with the cyst extending over the dorsal surface of the upper mass. There is a second, large cyst below the lower mass extending to the lower C3 level. Also seen are smaller cysts within the the two solid components of this tumor. Additionally seen is T2 signal within the normal cord caudal to the lower cyst, consistent with edema in the cord’s normal tissue.
