Outcome After Surgery
- Pain: 80–100% improvement. Pain tends to be the symptom most successfully relieved by surgery (1).
- Urological: 40–50% improvement. It is useful to have pre- and postoperative urodynamics (10).
- Scoliosis: Scoliosis may improve if the curve is less than 50 degrees. Overall, long-term follow-up (2–7 years) by McClone et al. (7) suggests 63% had stable or improved curves, while 38% had progression.
- Sensorimotor: 40–50% improvement (1).
