Postoperative Morbidity

  • CSF leakage: A CSF fistula is treated by reopening the skin incision and closing the fistula or, alternatively, lumbar CSF drainage can be used.
  • Hemorrhage in operative bed: An intracranial hematoma sometimes requires reopening the craniotomy and removing it. At other times, a wait-and-see approach may be appropriate.
  • Wound infections: Wound infections are treated with antibiotics.
  • Seizures: Seizures are treated medically.
