Dr. Amparo Saenz is a pediatric neurosurgeon trained in Argentina, where she completed her residency at Garrahan Hospital in Buenos Aires. She has since completed three prestigious fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London, specializing in pediatric neurosurgery, spine surgery, and craniofacial surgery. A dedicated clinician and researcher, Dr. Saenz is a member of both the Argentinian Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Currently pursuing a PhD at University College London, Dr. Saenz’s research focuses on spinal dysraphism, specifically investigating the impact of prenatal and postnatal surgical closure on brain abnormalities in myelomeningocele patients. With more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in neurosurgical journals, she has contributed to both the academic and clinical advancement of pediatric neurosurgery. Dr. Saenz is passionate about improving surgical outcomes and long-term quality of life for children with congenital spinal conditions through innovative research and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Other areas of her expertise include craniofacial surgery; having been actively involved with the craniofacial team during her fellowship, Dr. Saenz is a current member of Gemini Untwined and the Face Value group. Dr. Saenz is also deeply committed to bridging the gaps in research for non-English speaking researchers. To this end, she founded Neuroinvestigacion, a nonprofit organization that helps researchers from non-English speaking countries conduct high-quality research.
