Frequency of Office Visits
- Annually after first postoperative visit: Postoperative care frequently consists of an office visit 2-4 weeks postoperatively and annually thereafter.
Frequency of Imaging
- Perioperative angiogram: A perioperative angiogram is typically obtained to confirm obliteration of the AVM.
- MRI and MRA postoperatively for baseline, then annually: Obtain MRI/MRA including gadolinium contrast-enhanced sequences 6 months after surgery as a baseline study to be used for comparison to subsequent annual MRI/MRA. Imaging is performed annually for 5 years, if feasible.
- DSA at 1 year: DSA is often performed 1 year postoperatively to confirm durable cure. It is repeated if suspicious changes, such as regions of new enhancement, are observed on subsequent MRI.
Other Investigations Required
- None: No additional investigations are required.
