Myelotomy
The syrinx opening is made with an 11 blade between the dorsal columns. In very large syrinxes, the cavity may be entered where the cord is thinnest.
Placement Anchoring Stitch
A 7-0 prolene suture is attached to the pia in preparation for placement of a syrinx stent.
Placement of Stent
A silastic stent is placed in the syrinx cavity, with the other end lying freely in the subarachnoid space.
Anchoring of Stent
The stent is sutured to the pia to prevent it from migrating.
